    Will the MBP be able to display at 1680x1050 on the external monitor?? Thanks!!!

    Yes. AFAIK, the MBP can output up to 2560x1600, the resolution of Apple's 30" Cinema Display.

    Yes, it will have absolutely no problem displaying 1680x1050 on an external monitor. Even the MacBook can output 1920x1200 on an external monitor, so the MBP is not a problem at all.
