The text goes to her and also to me under different title. I think this might be because when we got iPhone 5 I had my 5 backed up with Mom's iPhone info and hers with the same info too.

Your correct. You need to set up either separate accounts for iTunes or check to see which devices have phone numbers and emails assigned to iMessage through your settings
For example I have an iPad for my wife and have had to just assign her email to the same account but remove all reference of my email and phone number I have from the device otherwise we get the same issue you've described
She was able to see all the messages my friends with iPhones were sending me at one point -

Not a different iTunes account but rather a different Apple ID. iTunes accounts are only used to access the iTunes Store but Apple ID's are used for iMessage, Find My iPhone, and a bunch of other services. You need to assign your own Apple ID to your own phone and choose to back it up either on your own free iCloud account or computer.

Yeah I meant apple ID not iTunes

But before this we had the same Apple ID (just to share the same apps instead of buying separately) but did not have this problem.

My daughters had this, it used to work on previous version of iOS for some reason but with the extra integration with iCloud and iMessage etc it seems to have changed. Each and every user needs their own Apple id or you get all kinds of cross communications, synching, e-mails etc.

We only seem to have the texting problem. Anyway how can u stop the vibrating when the text comes? I want neither vibration nor sounds .
