I have 2.2GB on disk, it shows on my Dropbox info. But I thought there was only 2GB allowed.

I think my Windows version of Dropbox showed that total available space was 4.0 Gb and I was taking slightly over 2.0 GB. But I don't remember how I got that extra 2.0GB or what.

If dropbox is running on your computer and you are logged in, you can get this information by right clicking on the dropbox icon in the taskbar. It will have one line in the format "[number]% of [number] GB used"

Otherwise, go to dropbox.com and login. Click on your name in the upper right hand corner. You'll get the same information there.

your space is tied to your dropbox account.. wether your connecting with Mac, Windows, or the website doesn't change this...

If you used someones referral link to sign up you may have gotten and extra 256mb of space, so it would show up as 2.2gb.

you can get 3gb just by setting up a smart phone to synch photos to dropbox.

once the synching begins, you can stop and then disable it again. By then you should have another 3GB available.

But I'm not sure though if those additional 3GB they give you can be used for anything other than photos and video synching. I'm up to 6.8GB of free space and I've only used approx 25% of it. So I can't confirm if the additional 3GB can be used for other types of files. Anyone know?

All of the space on your account can be used for whatever types of files you want.
