    Hey Guys!

I'm new to the Notebook world. and my first lappie hapens to be a MacBook. But there seems to be a problem recently with the lcd. From which ever(vertical) angle I look at the LCD, and from top to bottom the brigtness/contrast is not even, infact it increases and is more bright towards the bottom. Is this normal? is this called leakage?

How can check if everything is normal with the LCD?

BTW I am running the white MacBook 2GHz with 2GB RAM.

    Thanks!

i havent heard of macbooks having leakage, so what you describe is not normal for you notebook. a good way to see light leakage is to make your screen black, using an screen saver that is all black or somthing to that nature should show how bad the leakage is. if its really bad bring it to an apple store and see if you can exchange it.

He can get a replacement even if its after a week. It should be covered under warranty as a defect. You do get a 1 year warranty with Apple, unless you get AppleCare like I did and have 3 years.

Oh and yes, thats a leakage. First time I seen one too on an Apple.

Sure? Is this covered under warranty? I do have apple one care for three years international. The prob is i bought it in Singapore, right now in India and will be moving to US in about a month. So, I planned to get this replaced then...I would still be covered under warranty right?

It's not the users fault at all if a screen is leaking, I'm pretty sure its considered a hardware defect or a manufacturering defect. Its like if your screen stopped working, its a defect, this wouldn't be considered cosmetic.

If you got AppleCare give them a call and say you have a leaking LCD screen, you should be able to get it repaired. Just mention that its very bothersome to you because your getting subpar quality, which is true. As always make sure your being nice, Customer Service people respond nicely to those who are being polite, rather than someone who is being rude.

So give it a try, come back and tell me if it went through (it should)

    Cheers
