    hi,

as u might know, windows slow down overtime, after u do a lot of stuff on it; it became slow, main problem is the registry. i know mac has no registry, it has a preference system.
anyway do mac slowdown overtime? if i install more software will it cause it too be slower?

    just checking...

Due to a mac's unique caching system, there is never (rarely ever) the need to restart it. So, slowing down during startup should never be an issue.
But also because of that system, the mac will slow down as its RAM is used up by more and more applications. This can be easily solved by simply getting more RAM however.

As far as I know, not really. One thing you'll notice is that when you do install new software or do an update, OS X will optimize everything anyway.

Just for reference, I am actually currently using a Power Mac G4 Cube running OS X 10.4.8, and it's been in use for about 6 years, and outside of regular system updates, etc. it hasn't run any slower than when I first got it.

No, unlike Windows, OS X does not need to be reformatted every year or so to keep it running well.
