Hi all, sorry to make this a call for help on a first post, but hope someone can assist.

I have a MacBook pro which I was using this morning on battery power, closed the lid to take a break, now it won't start up again. Tried plugging in the mains but nothing?

The small 'sleep' light at the front isn't pulsating as normal but is on all the time.

    Can anyone help please?

You should try to remove the battery and charger, then press and hold the power button for 10+ seconds
Reinstall the battery and charger and give it a go

Thanks cyber16, but this is the model with a built in battery which is not removable? At the moment I'm leaving the screen up and off charge in a hope it might restart when the battery has run out...

If the screen is off but the white light on the front is on steady, it sounds like the computer is in external display mode, which means it's trying to output to an external monitor (even if you don't actually have one plugged in).

You should be able to just hold down the power button for about 10 seconds (this will shut it down), and then press it again to start it up, and the display should return. Try that and see if it works.

Haha, no problem, and thanks but it'll have to wait a few years, I'm only 19. :D

It's awesome to see someone's problem solved within just 5 posts. :) The Notebook Review's way of one poster offering another poster a beer for being thankful is to add to that poster's Rep Power. Underneath our forum names at the bottom are 3 icons. Click the one in the middle and you can add to the poster's reputation power for helping you.

Blabus. Don't let age get in the way of a good beer or fine wine - I'll be sure to keep one in the fridge for you... :)

    Thanks again!

I guess I owe one to cyber16 as well as he mentioned the 10+ second rule :)
