Well on my way out to the apple store I decided to run up a few competing monitors and find the 30" Dell with higher specs, HDCP S-IPS panel with 6 inputs (even has display port) for EXACTLY 1599...which is the SAME student discount price for the 30 cinema. Spec wise the Dell is better...in reality, I don't know because I can't go see it.

My question is has anyone connected a macbook or macbook pro to this display?

better than the dell? Spec wise it looks like the Dell wins...no? Believe me I'd love to go apple Cinema...but the 30" dell for the same price is tempting.

Perhaps the 24 LED keeps me more in the 'up to date' world.

I would GUESS the 30 inch Cinema refresh is coming soon no?

same panel. S-IPS. Shouldn't matter. The dell seems to give more options...but the Apple probably looks nicer.

The Apple 30 is much older. The Dell is the better choice.

The old comparisons saying the Apple is better than some areas compared to the Dell are comparing the much older 3007WFP to the ACD. Dell's went through 2 revisions since then and Apple zero.

If I were you I would buy the 3007WFP-HC refurbished for $750. It comes with a 3 year warranty. It's better than the ACD but only has like one input I think.

the ACD is about 3 years old with no updates and its seriously lacking ports. however, if you only care about hooking up one source to it and care about looks, ACD is the way to go, although it can only tilt, doesn't go up and down. again, you're paying a lot for the design which is ahead of the dell.
