As we sit down and ponder about "What's next?" in the tech world that we want, we need to sit down and take a breath and really grasp what's happening to what Apple calls, Dinosaurs. Yes, those HUGE and over weighted Mac Pro's.. Anyways, What I've done is essentially modernize my Mac Pro 1,1 to support 64bit EFI- for one reason, OS X Mavericks; and soon TBA Yosemite. Since I respect forum rules and guidelines I will not and do not want to share the specific info on my posting. However, go to google and let it do its magic. It's quite simple, and if you REALLY want a good deal as I did, I hoped on eBay bought a 2.66ghz 1,1 for $250 shipped- and then I bought X2 3.0ghz for $15, yes $15. Everything works amazing, and I even have my GTX 760 from my PC build I did recently, and I could not be happier. It's quite remarkable that the Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 got screwed development wise by limiting their native 64 bit architecture to just a small 32bit form simply by software control. Absolutely ridiculous, and really the main reason why they came out with the 3,1 is because it had 64bit "native version 2" **wink, wink
Besides the 32bit to 64bit transition, the process is quite simple as the Terminal app handles the scripting, limiting errors down to zero.
So get out there, go buy a cheap 1,1 and just experience the true power and capability these STILL have after its been 8 years. I am also running a 240GB Corsair GS SSD, 1TB 7200RPM media drive, stock 980w power supply.

    Cheers! :D

    Hi skitahoemc,

I have a similar config mac pro upgraded to octo 3Gh + GTX760....etc..
I managed to get Maverik working (very stable by the way) by folowing the boot.efi method from the net.

For some reason, I can not get yosemite working. so I was wondering if you managed to upgrade to yosemite.
is the GTX 760 working ?
Can you give me some clues ? links ?

    Rob,
