    Mac OS X installation on a new HDD?

    It keeps freezing at the apple logo, I've tried the command + r method but that hasnt worked either. It's a mid 2011 IMAC.

    Maybe you have a hard drive problem.

    With a new drive, the initial boot, particularly of like Mavericks and Yosemite, takes a few minutes before it goes into the setup stuff. How long have you waited?
