It should. Sometimes it is not installed they just give you a disk.

Buy the CD and put it in the CD drive. Follow the steps.

 

if you want to upgrade to 10.6 when its available.. yes, you'll have to buy the new version disc and do it that way...

if you just want to update to the latest version of your currently installed 10.5 then you just use Software Update in the Apple Menu.

If you pay attention to the web analysis all signs point to a probable early release this Friday, the 28th. You are correct, however, that Amazon may get authorization to ship early for the boxes to arrive on release day or day 2, as happened most recently with iLife 09.

Yeah, but this is the confirmation. That was just mere speculation.

 

Oh and is it just me or does the snow leopard retail pack doesnt really live up to apple standard? The picture of the snow leopard looks stupid, imho.

How long until Apple starts shipping laptops with Snow Leopard?

 

Heres my question:

Will the $30 single/ $50 family pack disks be upgrades or full os's. In my situation, I bought my computer with a leopard UPGRADE disk thrown in (and tiger originally installed). After I upgraded my hd I had to install tiger then upgrade to leopard (it wouldnt let me directly install from an upgrade disk). If this new SL disk is an "upgrade" disk I will probably have to install tiger then leopard then SL ( or just tiger then SL ?) from a completely wiped disk. So is it an upgrade or a full os disk for $30/$50?

 

If all your computers have Leopard on them then you can just install Snow Leopard from Leopard. The UPGRADE DISK WILL ONLY WORK ON MACS THAT HAVE LEOPARD. Macs that have tiger will have to buy the MAC BOX SET, which is like $140. So if you have tiger, the family pack wont work for you cause the family pack is 5 UPGRADE DISK LICENSES (Leopard to SL), not FULL DISKS (Tiger to SL).

 

hopefully a full OS install with a check built in to look for a previous leopard install.... kinda like how MS did their upgrades for years... if you try to upgrade and it didn't find the install, it let you put in an older OS disc to verify you owned it... then let you install.

Id really hate if i wanted to do a clean install to have to install leopard then upgrade it...

I did the apple chat on the apple store.com about Snow Leopard upgrade route, and they told me that the Upgrade 29, and the Mac Box set disks are pretty much identical except for the fact that the upgrade disc has a OS check to see if Leopard is installed or not, once SL is installed it will do another check and find SL, pass that check and then you will be able to do a clean install or w.e you want.

I Pre Ordered mines on the Apple Website, Its in the ready for shipment phase, To be delivered on August 28 VIS USPS Priorty Mail.

 

I ordered my Mac OS X Snow Leopard Up-To-Date on the 11th of august , I just checked my order status for the first time today and it says.

original order "MAC OS X10.6 SNOWLEOPARD UTD FULLFIL-ZML" canceled? replaced with "MAC OS X10.6 SNOWLEOPARD UTD FULLFIL-INT" so what is ZML and INT?



Ship date just says September.

 

FWIW, the one I ordered today has "-INT" in its title.

 

So if INT is International , what is ZML or is it something totally different

 

Mines says int to I ordered mines from the US.

 

Ordered a family pack for the macs of the house, and tossed in an Airport Express that I've wanted for a bit as well. AE has already shipped (!), and Snow Leopard will be leaving Apple's facilities on the 28th.

Just ordered mine from the Apple Store and the confirmation email says Friday August 28th delivery. Sweet.

Question: I have XP installed in BootCamp and can either boot with XP on startup or through a VMware Fusion as a virtual machine. Will the upgrade brake anything? Is there anything I should know/worry about?

 

Hey Tinderbox, I know this is unrelated to Snow Leopard, but I thought you would be interested in knowing this, but...

When you screen something out by using "twirl" so others cant see, it can be be undone and deciphered if the user used "twirl" in the opposite direction.

Just thought I'd let you know, just in case you decide to do that to more valuable information.

For those in the US what does your order status say exactly? Mine (in Canada) says Ships by the 28th (not on the 28th) so I'm guessing there is at least the possibility that I'll have it on Friday.

 

I just got an email from Apple that says if you order by Wed it will be at your door Friday*.

I picked up 4gb of RAM in anticipation of SL. Should I install the RAM before or after I run the SL upgrade?

Just got my shipping conformation from Apple (France).
So it should be here Friday/Saturday, which is amazing for france.
I was expecting it would ship next monday and I would have it by maybe Sept 4th.
It has to have at least a few smoke breaks on the way, its a long trip...lol

So how does apple normaly ship their OS , by local post office/postman or by courier company.

 

They do all their transactions through fedex i believe.
