Hey guys, I just got my 2.16 C2D WhiteBook, and it's been a great machine.

Here's the thing, whenever I open the chess application, one core goes too 100% usage, and as expected, the temperature rises taking the fans into "jet engine" mode. Does the chess game really need that much processor power? or is it something wrong with my machine?

The chess program uses an insane amount of CPU power.

On my 2.4GHz MBP, if I turn the difficulty level to highest, it takes 5-15 minutes for the computer to make each move, and CPU goes up to 100% during that time.

I'm not really into Chess, but my brother is and he uses Sigma Chess when he plays on a Mac. You may want to check it out. The Lite version is Freeware. Peace.

Haha, yeah, the Macs are so full of stuff, you find new things about it nearly every day ;).

"Speech" chess never works well for me. Maybe I have a weird voice that they can't pick up correctly :D.
