I'm really bad with outlook and entourage and email clients in general, since I only started using them recently. I want to do the following with my hotmail account:

    1) Find all emails from a specific person that is greater than x kb
    2) Remove those emails but have them stored on my computer.

I know how to do the first step (search, add criterion) and I know how to delete emails of course. THe only thing I don't know is whether all emails are automatically stored on my hard drive when they're opened, and if they are, how do I access them once they're deleted from hotmail.

    Thanks

I will have to take a look at Entourage. I recently dumped my iPhone, and that was the only reason I was using OS X Mail; I prefer Entourage and will be shifting back, but have not had a chance to yet. I think it has most of the same functionality as Outlook, though, although it may take you some time to find the specific drill down to get to them.

In Outlook, you can use the Advanced Find function to set parameters like the specific sender, and the size of the email, so that would take care of your first concern.

In Outlook, you could move those emails to a specific folder, and then store them in a .PST file that you could then only import and open when you wanted to. Exchange has a similar function, but the file extension is something different than .pst. In Windows, you can also directly drag and drop an email file out into a hard drive folder, where it gets saved as a .msg file. When you then open an Explorer window and double-click on the email, it opens in Outlook, but does not re-import into the personal folder of Outlook. As soon as you close it, it is back in the original hard drive folder.

These are some functions you can dig around for in Entourage, and see if they mirror Outlook functionality in Windows. You can also try left-clicking on an email (not opening it), and then seeing if there is a Save As...option from the File drop-down.
