    Hi there.

I am currently very interested in the MBP series.. The only thing left to decide is the 2.2 vs the 2.4(iive read alot of threads!) but the one thing i fail to see any direct questions to are my own questions.

    Ok here we go.

First, I i like to play games, especially RTS and FPS games. Always multiplayer on the internett, i hate playing solo - i feel alone.

Will the MBP 2.2 series have any problems playing games like CSS, and SC2 when it comes out? And how about the newer games, will it be able to play it if i install another 2gig of ram, i dont need to best graphix, i just want it to be playable with decent graphix...

Can anyone that has got the MBP 2.2 answer some of my questions?
    Thanks!

PS. Sorry for the bad zyntax, im from norway and i dont write that good english!

I have played CSS without any issue. Can't comment on sc2. I don't think your memory will be the issue, but the memory of the graphics card could become a issue in the future. the 2.2 has 128mb vid memory, and the 2.4 has 256mb. The different processor i don't think will make a bif difference in your gameplay its only the video memory.

I went with the 2.2 because im not a big gamer, but if i was a really big gamer i would consider the higher end model.

im not a big gamer(i think) i play CSS, or not really i play 1.6 but i was hoping to switch when i get a new comp :p.

I have heared about turbo caching som memory, but i dont know if it will help anything...

Anyone tried any more demanding games than CSS that can share their expirience?

i've played fear which ran very well also. If the newest games at the best settings isnt that important definitely go with the lower end model.
To me the differences in the models doesnt justify the price difference

well i play flight simulator 2004 and everyone knows that it flight simulator is one the hardest games to run in the world. My 2.2 runs it very well though i doubt that CS can be ay harder to run than that. I get around 45 frame rates a second with very high settings.

most cool games are limited by the graphics cards. The difference between the 2.2 and 2.4 shouldn't be huge, but will be noticable. Really decent specs.
The CPU power difference won't make a noticable difference (measurable yes, noticable no).
Messing with the memory speeds is likely to introduce system instability and is probably not a terrific idea, especially on hot running machines like the MBP.
Also RAM over 2GB is VERY unlikely to speed up games. (heck, I think most of those games run happily on a 1GB machine, you'd be pushing it on a 512MB machine)

I have the older MBP 2.33 with a WAY less powerful graphics card and CallOfDuty2 runs quite happily in native resolution 1440x900 with most graphic goodies (AA and Aniso) running

I play bioshock and it runs at everything high (except like real time reflections) at 1280 x 800 and i get about 25-40 fps which is very playable. CSS you'll be able to run like butter. Just make sure to install the latest mobile drivers from laptopvideo2go
