Is anyone running this configuration? I have an iMac long in the tooth and am jonesing for a 15" MBPr. I am curious if the MBPr fits in the existing docks and what some folks might have experienced running MBPr through the thunderbolt display. Figured I might bypass the iMac update this go around and have the laptop do double duty. Any insight appreciated.

the thunderbolt display acts like a dock... if you meant something like the henge dock, I dont think they launched something for the RMBP, they surely will

I'm not quite sure what you mean by docks. The answer to your question is yes if you are talking about docks that use a thunderbolt port (I consider these to be hubs but the vocabulary used to describe them varies greatly). However, if you mean physical plastic docks, the answer above is correct. The RMBP is thinner than the standard 15" MBP so any physical dock that holds a regular 15" MBP is not going to work with a RMBP. There will be quite a bit of extra space and the RMBP won't be held properly. Additionally, as previously pointed out, Apple's Cinema Display can act as a thunderbolt hub and secondary display for any MacBook (Pro, Air, or Retina) with a thunderbolt port.

Thanks for the answers. I pulled the trigger on the MBPr, but after seeing the thunderbolt display was still USB 2.0, figured I'd wait. I was referring to the dock where I would just drop the laptop in then use regular mouse and keyboard. Ideally they'll have proper docks for the retina at the same time USB 3.0 becomes available on the thunderbolt display. That is when I'll update the iMac! Thanks again...
