Hey guys I have a question.
I've been a user of Toshiba, and Acer laptop(s).
My MBu is coming tomorrow, and my friend just got a 13" MBP.
Does the trackpad, palmrest get shiny like plastic based laptops? Shiny, etc.
(I already ordered a BestSkinEver MBu skin and a silicon keyboard cover)
I always wash my hands before using a computer (i know thats weird), but even with that it wore out (my first 2 Toshiba laptops), for Acer I got a vinyl wallpaper liner cut it to my likings and put it on the trakcpad, trackpad buttons, the entire laptop + keyboard cover. that's the only way that i avoided the wear. Does Macbook Unibdoy, MBP share the same problems? ( i know the keyboard does)
thanks!

The trackpad is made of glass so unless you have diamond rings on it will not wear out, the parmrests, I have heard about pitting caused by oils in the skin and discolouration though it might have been fixed my now.

Unless your skin gives off toxic chemicals that can "pitt" aluminum, its usually dirt that has accumulated from lazyness to keep it clean. Use car wax and you will be fine. Other than that you will be amazed at what it can do, you'll smack yourself for not getting into a Mac sooner.

My G4 powerbook is made with brushed aluminum not painted. Almost 6yo not a pit on it.

As long as your palms and fingers are relatively clean, and you're not grinding away at the MacBook case, you should have no problems. Solid aluminum isn't likely to warp as easily as the thin sheets found on the earlier MacBook Pros, and fairly low heat will not discolor aluminum like plastic.

Nope the new Unibody Macs are made with pretty strong grade and thick aluminum that will give it a fair amount of protection. Unlike the previous model of the MBP which only had a thin layer of aluminum over a plastic shell this whole thing is aluminum so you wont have any pitting / discoloration given that you dont spill anything on it any treat it well. A clean up of the keyboard and palm rest every month should be more than enough. One word about the keyboard protector. Those dont work to well with the current versions of the macbook and macbook pro because they really are not a snug fit. If you look at the edges of the keyboard it isnt completely flat it is sort of like like a very shallow curve so the keyboard protector will move around alot.

I never wash my hand when I use my 17 inch macbook pro and it did not leave a mark on it.
