So today I went to wake up my MBP today from sleep. When I opened it up the screen was blank but the awake light(on the open button) was on consitantly. It does this every now and then, so I just hold the power button to turn it off, as was the case today. This time, though, when I tried to power back on nothing happened, absolutely nothing.

I tried turning it on with all combinations of battery in/out power adapter in/out, but nothing ever happened. I called apple care and they had me disconnect everything and hold down the power button for 7 seconds and then try starting it again normally. Still nothing happened.

I have an appointment with a genius for Friday, so hopefully they'll be able to fix it quickly. I won't be too upset if I loose data, as the only thing I haven't backed up is a couple of t-shirt designs(which I can recreate from jpegs I have hosted elsewhere).

Does anybody have any ideas on what it could be? I did some research and to me it seems like the logic board battery. It would be nice to have a couple of suggestions for the apple store when I bring it in.

Hey system, I used to have some of hte same issues with my MBP not waking up. It would sit on teh black screen and nothing (even closing and opening the lid again) would wake it back up. So I used to have to power it down to get going again. I know thats not your current issue, but I have not run into that problem with 10.5.1 :-D
Though, Leopard... does kinda suck, its nice to finally have a fix for this.

Try reseating the RAM or taking out one stick at a time and then booting it up.

I tried both of those taelrak and still nothing.

hollownail, I believe this is more of a hardware problem than software, as there's absolutely no signs of life in the machine. Someone might as well have dropped it off the roof of my work building(except for it looking normal still. You get the idea).

Stupid Logic Boards. oh well, maybe they wont be able to fix it and I'll get it replaced with a new one :p

    Quick update.

Just got the MBP back. The Logic Board was the problem and it was replaced along with a new power button(the previous one was starting to wobble some).

Unfortunately this thing is filthy now, I think somebody was eating cheetos while they were working on it. Time to clean...
