I purchased a MBP in the last month and it was dead silent until yesterday when it would sporadically make some weird bug-like sound from the left side occasionally (kind of like 2 clicks). I was wondering if this was normal or something other people were experiencing too? Should I take this down to the genius bar or will they just tell me that this is something expected? (I'd take this over the horrendous squealing that my friend's newly bought Dell makes any day though)

It's not normal. Could be a failing hard drive. Take it to the Apple Store.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just got off the phone with Applecare and that was their conclusion too so they're sending me a box to ship my laptop over to get it fixed but I think I'll stop by the apple store by my house

What's happening is, the hamster in the wheel inside your MBP is getting hungry and chewing on the wire of its cage, which in turn is making the clicking sound you hear.

Tell Apple to replace your hamster.
