I have a 2.4ghz SR MBP with 7200RPM HD. Am i suppose to feel any vibration at the palm area during regular usage? I couldn't feel any vibration off my old Dell Inspiron, Just wondering if this is normal because of the 1 inch factor.

Nope, no optical disk. I realized if I put the laptop down on a flat table and put both of my hands on it, and the vibration stops. So far this is the only way I found to stop the vibration. If I put it back up onto laptop cooler (Power Off), the MBP will continue to vibrate.

Does it vibrate or buzz? Is it only when the power cord is in? Maybe this is what you're talking about. I've learned to live with this problem and it's better with the newer MBPs.

vibrate with a very slight buzz. Happens both during plugged and unplugged. Only way to resolve is to lay it flat and put weight on the palm area:/

That's odd. I don't feel any sort of movement at all on my MBP, even when the fans are on. Sometimes if I have a DVD running, I can feel something if I put my hands over the optical drive.

no vibration here. i can feel the HD accessing data but that's different as it doesn't stop when i push down.

the HD is under the left palm rest, and my stock HD had a small metal disc glued to the top of it - I think to make a connection with the underside of the top case, presumably to transfer heat to the outside.

Hmmm...i have a 2.4 MBP and I feel just a little bit of the hard drive spinning on the left palm rest. Is this normal? Now you guys have me all paranoid. Also, are there programs that can check if your hard drive is working properly?

You are probably fine. Not only i feel a lot of vibration from hard drive spinning, I can feel vibrations from the entire panel.
