Most if not all electronics and that includes computers are made in China.

stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
Yea thats where it comes from if you buy it new. If you buy it refurb it comes from California I think.

mine shipped from china also, low level penryn 15".
ordered via ADC student discount, no custom changes. had it in 5 days from shipment to Maryland. 7-8 days from order. -
Macs are only designed by Apple in California, but made in China.
-
thats where mine shipped from. had it 3 days after it left shanghai to nyc

Note that there is a difference being actually 'made' and assembled. Macs are assembled in China, but their internal components are not necessarily all made in China. The same goes for Sonys and Dells, the fact that they are assembled in California does not mean every component in the machine is made in California.
-
Actually in the context of laptops "made" is usually "assembled".

Almost without exception, all laptops are made/assembled somewhere in china.

that's where mine shipped from. It's funny, I'm living there now, and these people need to pay $500 more than us for their Macs too, and no student discounts, they're all jealous of my MBP....
