That seems to be an extreme case. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've had that happen to me once when waking my MBP up. All I had to do was close and open the screen once to get the backlight back to normal and haven't had this happen to me since. Should I be concerned about this?

I have the same problem on my new Penryn MBP (one week old), and I wonder if I return it or not, because it's maybe only a software problem. It could be due to bootcamp or EFI software : for me it only happens when I reboot on Mac partition after having used Windows (I have 2 partitions : one for Mac OS, one for Windows XP SP2).

It never happens when I reboot from Mac to Mac or from Mac to Windows. But my machine is very recent, so I can't be sure that the problem is exclusively linked to the switch Windows/Mac.

I haven't really noticed that on my machine. Certainly not as severe. If I hide the dock, change to an all white background, and turn the brightness all the way up, I can sort of make out a faint representation of the link posted by the OP.

But as you can see, it never really interferes with my daily use (seeing as I have to do all the above to even faintly notice it)

Might just be a psychological effect :p
