Talking about the new $2499 15.4" MBP, which I d like to buy from NH applestore.

    1) DVD Optical drive - what about regions, can you change the DVD region several times? I ll need to use the MBP in Europe and use that region DVDs.
    2) Warranty - is the Mac warranty global? Can I use the warranty in Europe, in case anything happens?
    3) Leopard - I d like to buy MBP and I can wait max up to 14/10/2007, should I wait for Leopard to come out? Will they upgrade the MBP in any way when Leopard comes out?
    4) Have anybody tried putting Hitachi Travelstar 7k200 into MBP?

    1) You should use VLC. The Region-limit is from DVD Player, and not the optical drive, so if you use VLC you don't need to change region codes.

    2) Yes, the Apple warranty is worldwide.

    3) I don't expect any updates for the MBP...the 17-inch may get LED-backlit screens, but I don't expect an update other than that.

    4) Nopes.

An extra 40GB of space can be quite useful though. Some of the members here have swapped it in and seems to have no trouble with it. If you're worried about warranty, take it to an Apple store and get them to do it for you.

There is a limit to the number of times you can change the region in DVD player. I forget exactly how many times but it was around 5.
