I installed oranges 3G modem and now my mbp does not boot! it freezes after showing the "gray screen"! I tried bootcamp and it works. resting pram didn't help and I have no backup! So what options do I have?I can try to reformat, but I have some important things on it...

Have you tried booting with the Shift key held down? (Safe mode)

    No luck with safe mode!

Guys, can you please give me full paths of video, home and other important folders? I am trying to back-up my file from bootcamp and I don't know why, but my files don't show up and I can only access them by entering full path! it should be something like E:\users\username\

You could perform an archive and install. It would keep all your apps and settings. But there's probably a much easier way to fix this, I just can't think of it atm.

Yeah - unfortunately the steps recommended in there are the ones I'd follow as well. If shift start doesn't work and the usual PRAM stuff doesn't either, then it's an archive & reinstall for you - although I've had some (non-startup-preventing) USB issues persist beyond an a&r as well.

Xirug, do you have access to an external SATA/USB encosure or interface and a second Mac, hooking your HDD up as an external is normally the easiest way to recover data from your drive if you can not access it through windows and an hfs reader. .... hopefully your mac partition isnt toast.

It's unlikely to be toast - going by the sequence of the problem, probably just a non-bootable-any-more install.

An archive and reinstall will almost certainly make it bootable without any actual data loss.g

I backed-up everything through bootcamp partition. Whats strange that it didn't give an option to chose "Archive and Install" so now I am doing regular installation! Thanks for help guys! :)
