Ok so i am looking at 2 MBP models
    13" MB991LL/A
    15: MC118LL/A

So the specs are about the same. The only thing is one is 1440 x 900 and one is 1200 x 800
So the question is this. does anyone have both that they really notice the difference?

I plan to have this for the next 3+ years At first it will be my traveling companion (for about 6 months of light traveling) then move to my desktop friend hooking up to a 28" monitor (my M4400 is on that now) I have a Dell M4400 as well that is my main machine, but this is slated to go away in mid 2010.
Any help in deciding the next notebook to buy would be great. I am buying this in the next few days.

You are forgetting that 1280x800 is on 13" screen and 1440x900 is on 15"... And what do you need it for?

Pixel density is going to be almost exactly the same on the two. You literally are just going to get 2 more inches of viewable space.

    gotcha,

in the beginning this will travel with me, SQL coding, other programing, word, excel, some pictures, video, etc. No gaming as i have a rig for that. more for business.

Later it will become my main unit.

13" is probably fine, unless you want 2" more of diagonal space. Performance wise they will be the same for your tasks. Once you hook it up to the external it won't make a difference. 13" ftw.

I'm at my son's apartment with my 17 inch MBP hooked up to a Samsung 24 inch display ($256) with 1920x1200 resolution. If you are going to mainly do work at known locations, I'd recommend getting the lower resolution and keeping high-res displays at the places where you are most of the time. You get portability and a great display most of the time.

Well , The 15 inch is pretty awesome too. If price wasn't in your consideration, I would definitely recommend the 15". 15" pwns 13" MBP.

I have a 13.3 inch Dell XPS as my traveling machine (Vista is such a piece of .....) and it is nice to carry a 4 pound machine instead of an 8 pound machine sometimes. If I didn't have the Dell, I'd buy a 13 inch MBP.

I do like the 15 inch too; my kids have 15 inch MBPs and I enjoy using them.

Well i ended up with the 15" for the extra $$ it is totaly worth it.
I did not get the switchable graphics as i never see a need for the more powerfull card.
Got it today and compaied to my old 15" (long dead) this thing is amazing. SO happy i got it.

Something tells me my M4400 is going the way of the wind.

Excellent purchase! I can't wait to get the unibody. Once this is out of warranty I'll think about it.

It is awesome. Just over 6 hours of battery life with average surfing, Citrix and some small app installs and auto dim on. Unbelievable for a 15" notebook.
Makes my M4400 look like a dinosaur and it is only 3 months old (company owned though).
