My MBP is making a ticking nose. I thought it was the cd drive but i took cd out and still happening so im scared it is the HD. I have never dropped it or anything and it is only 6 month old. It works just as well as day i got its just hella annoying.

You know what usually happens when the ticking stops right... BOOM! :p

I'd get it looked at just for ease of mind. Better safe than sorry.

The HD drive does make a kind of ticking noise whenever it's loading stuff, it's just being a HD, lol. It's inconsistant and happens in bursts... if you're talking about a very loud, consistant tick tock, then I'm not sure :(

Or can you imagine the looks you'd get if you have it on your lap at an airport and it starts ticking? :p

I don't know if he'd be able to see their expressions through the bomb squad/SWAT masks and scopes.

Don't worry. You won't make it past airport security when they X-Ray your belongings.

if it is ticking loud enough for others to hear (it shouldn't be ticking at all, even the HDD should be basically silent) you should take it in or call up Apple.

of course that is what you would do, what else would you do?

I find that it clicks much much more frequently in Vista... it seems it's always reading crap from the disc unlike OS X. Even my brothers inspiron clicks, and hell, the Mac Pros at my school click. I have yet to see a non-SSD computer NOT click even lowly when the HD is reading stuff.
