Sometimes when I plays DVDs, the keyboard flickers just slightly. Is this a widespread problem or is it just me? Thanks for any help.

Are you talking about the keyboard backlight? If so, make sure your hands are not covering the speaker grills as this will through off the light sensor (at least for non unibody models).

Maybe. I'd still use the word "flickers" since it's a visual thing, though. The weird thing is that it only occurs on the right side of the keyboard.

I think you may have a defect. I'd take it down to the Apple Store and see what they have to say about it, and mabye even give you a replacement. The worst they could do is say no. ;)

I don't know. I've had the MBP for a little over 2 years now, and this just started occurring. Would this flickering cause permanent damage to the laptop in any way? If not, I can just live with it.

    Thanks for the input, everyone.

Does anyone have any suggestions about things I could try for the time being? Unfortunately, I can't take it to Apple right now.
