I've played two DVDs (one -R and one +R) that I burned myself in my macbook with no problems. I mean, I didn't burn them in the macbook since it is the CDR/DVD version, I used my desktop machine for that.

weird. Try inserting and playing a regular DVD beforehand. Perhaps this will set the region of the player.

Ok that is why I asked if it played at all. You must set the region on all new mac drives. The way this usually happens is that you must play a regular dvd. That should automatically set the region code. After that your burned discs should work. There is a way to maually do it but I cannot find it right now.
