Does anyone know if there will be more hardware changes on the MBP with the release of Leopard?

I read some rumors that Leopard will support features for HDDVD and Blu-Ray, so it had me thinking that a new disk drive would almost be standard.

My finger is constantly hovering over the confirm order button, but with changes to the OS so near I am trying to get the best bang for the buck.

I don't see such a significant update so soon. The last MBP update was June, and it was pretty significant in the internal parts so I don't see an update in October just yet. Maybe in January or February, but I don't think October. Its more likely there will be a MacBook update in October, though.

My suggestion is just get the MacBook Pro now. You will run Leopard fine, and if Leopard does have high-definition disc support it'll be Blu-Ray, which they officially support.

Go ahead and push the "Buy" button. You can't keep waiting and waiting forever. This is what people like us (computer geekies) do, we get hyped up over rumors and then when Apple intros a new model it's not exactly what we were expecting. Then the next questions on the forum are, "Do you think Apple will release the update I wanted in the next few weeks"? :D
It's never ending. It's best not to hold off if you really want it especially if you are looking for something as miniscule as Blu-Ray.

Apple is known for not jumping the gun on features that may just jack up prices but are not a real money maker immediately. Look at Sony's Vaio machines, they are not making historical Blu-Ray sales in their notebooks because they are too expensive.

I still think that there will a minor upgrade for macbook pro, but not a huge one. As far as I know, Intel announced the quad-core processor for notebook and I think that mac will update some of their product line. Not sure about this though

The next processors from Intel are not due until very late this year at the earliest and probably not until early next year. I highly doubt you will see a revision before January. There are too many other models that need updates, I think the MBP is at the back of the line.
