I've just noticed a slight problem with my MBP where the right speaker grill appears to be coming lose from the grey plastic/rubber strip that surrounds the case. Technically it's very minor since the elevation is barely 1mm at it's peak and it's not noticeable at a glance, but the grill does move when you press down on it. The left speaker grill is perfectly level with the grey rubber edge and doesn't move at all. Has anyone else noticed this?

Do you think Apple would care about what appears as a minor problem? I'm just worried that the problem would spread, ie. the entire right panel becomes separated from the rubber edge, especially since it's winter and the thermal expansion and contraction might accelerate the loosening. I don't have extended warranty and my default warranty expires in January, so if I were to do something about it, now would be the time. If I wanted to book an appointment with a Genius I suppose I need to call the store? I'm just wondering if it's any different here in Canada.

You don't have to book an appointment, but you'll have to wait otherwise. So I'd book one.

And I think its rather minor right now, but as you said, you're worried that it might get worse later. So I'd say just book an appointment, and see what they say.

    :p

Try just pressing it straight down. Give it a pretty firm effort. :p The top more or less just snaps into the metal bottom.

That doesn't seem to help. From pictures, it looks like the entire keyboard/touchpad panel is one piece, but it's not that the entire panel is coming off the bottom case, it seems like just the metal speaker grill is separating from the rubber edge. I guess I'll book an appointment. The closest Apple Store is at Eaton's Centre. Hopefully they don't need to take it in since I need it for exams.

make sure all the small screws on the side panels are secure, as that i what mainly holds the bottom case to the top surface.

if the machine hasn't been dropped, that really shouldn't be occuring, so I would wait until you are truly free of other obligations and then take it into the store.
