I know that there seems to be a lot of hype over the possibility of an Apple tablet being released on the 26th, but I'm more curious over what you guys think about the prospects of a MBP refresh, seeing as how Intel is debuting new Core i7 processors at CES (just around the corner). Good chance it's gonna happen? Thanks, and Merry Christmas :D

A tablet would be pretty cool. And not, as I was debating getting a 13" MBP to replace my netbook. I guess I should wait and see what's up in January.

It'll happen when it happens, and not a moment sooner.

It won't happen before it happens because if it happens before it happens instead of happening when it happens and not a moment sooner, it won't happen when it happens, it'll happen prematurely.

    Merry Christmas! :)

I just hope that they wont put the i7 only on the $2,299, although it makes sense knowing apple's pricing practices.

It would probably be in the 17inch first, maybe in the higher end 15 inch.

I wouldn't hold your breath for the tablet.

I mean, sure, *maybe* this time the rumors are serious, and it will actually come out on the 26th... etc...

but for the better part of the last decade, people have been saying the exact same thing:

"serious rumor this time: actually probably going to happen! apple tablet gagagaga"

so just be aware of that.

    True.

If a tablet is announced or not, it helps me either way in making up my mind. I am looking forward to a MBP 13 though.

The 26th is so far away...

Frankly, I don't care too much for an Apple tablet at this point, but it looks like there's a greater chance that a tablet will be announced at the 26th event rather than new MBPs. Looks like I may have to bite the bullet on another Core i7 notebook instead of a Mac. And I was looking forward to the change too:/

Sorry guys, I didn't want to be "that guy" but I just had to know.

According to this article the core i5's and i7's will supposedly be coming to the Macbook Pro in June of 2010. Whenever they do come to the Macbook Pro does anyone think the price will increase?

Because I'm really debating buy now with Core 2 Duo or wait then see the price for the base 13" model go up because of the core i5 or i7 which ever chip they use.

    Any insight? Thanks

doubt you'll see a i7 in a 13" .. but the i5 is very likely eventually... but they may only have it in the higher end 15 and 17 first.

The i7 isn't that much better than the i5... only slightly and has hyperthreading, which is a mixed bag.

It would be sweet if apple would reintroduce black laptops, like the powerbook g3 ^^ But I guess thats against the current shiny white/sivler colour style :(

Fingers crossed for decent graphic cards and cooling, thats all I need.

Edit: @doh +1 rep for your pic gnifl.
Edit2: aww, gave out to many reps the last 24 hours...nvm about the rep xD

The top of my Macbook Pro is all black, and all black on the palmrest and above the keyboard... looks really nice. Solid black MacStyle and solid black MacPad from there. The combo of the whole machine being half black and half silver looks really nice.... though it can be kind of time consuming to get these things put on good.

Who think the new Macbook Pro 13" will use the new core i3 processor and i5 in the 15" and i7 in the 17"?

Anyone think apple will keep the Macbook pro 13 the same price it is now or increase the price with the processor?

Doesn't matter what people think because everyone will have their own opinion, most of which will end up being wrong.

true... but is it likely? I don't know how apple has worked in the past on refreshing their notebooks so I was asking and hoping someone could shed some insight on it based on how they've done things in the past.

In the past Apple has always increased the hardware but has kept the prices mainly the same.

Highly unlikely that it would take them till June to do this. Apple just passed the point of the average time it takes for a new Macbook Pro refresh, which is 200 days. We are currently at 204 days since the last Macbook Pro refresh. June is way too far away and would lead to Apple losing business.
