Ok, I've ordered the MBP 15" from applestore. Does anyone know where I can order the additional RAM?

    TIA

I ordered two of these bad boys for my MBP.
Awesome deal! And they work great! Installation is a breeze! I know of at least a couple other guys on here who ordered the same for their MBP. 100% satisfaction.

You can get more RAM from third parties, with most known one being Newegg.com.

You probably already know this, but I just want to make sure you realize that your MBP will be coming with two (2) 1 GB sticks of memory in it and not one (1) 2 GB stick of memory.

So... plan your memory upgrade accordingly.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I think I'll sell the 1GBx2 memory and install 2GBx2 into my MBP.

I also got the Transcend from newegg. Took about three minutes to install; works great. I put the two 1G sticks in my son's older Acer computer - they also worked very well (but too longer to install, thanks to the way the Acer was put together).

Actually, I think its best that you keep the stock RAM, in case you need to send in the MBP for exchange or repair in the future :).

Yes, this may be a good idea; however, upgrading the RAM yourself does not void the warranty, so it is not essential to hold onto the RAM for future warranty purposes.
On the other hand... I'm sure the geeks at the genius bar do prefer to see Apple memory when/if they open up your mac, so having the original memory in place might result in better service (since you'd appear to be an Apple loyalist... well... at least a better one). ;)

Yeah, upgrading the RAM on the MBP doesn't void your warranty, but say you're returning the MBP for a replacement, you're either giving them extra RAM, or taking out the RAM you bought and leaving no RAM on there because you sold the stock RAM :p.

    So that's why :p.

It sounds ridiculous but the person at the mac store where I bought my computer said that unless I purchased RAM from apple it would void the warranty ?!

Ah, that old tactic. No, it won't void your warranty. They just wanted a sale.
