Can a 2.2ghz macbook pro have an x1600? I always thought that the 2.2, 2.4, 2.5 ghz had 8600's. And the 2.16, 2.33's had the x1600's in them. The reason i am asking this is because i saw one for sale today and i was wondering if they made a mistake typing the tag or something.

It must've been a typo; just ask the seller to clarify. You can check all the configurations at EveryMac.com.

Nope, 2.2 mbps dont have x1600. It's kinda funny cause usually the 'typo' is the other way around, they list a 2.16 ghz as 2.2, and just say 128mb video card, so you assume its the newer model. I feel sorry for the people that get tricked into that...

So how will i know whether its the new one, or the older one? I doubt the seller will know since its at a college bookstore. Will i be able to tell by looking at the box? All the MBPs they have there have the old tiger wallpaper. But some of their newer MBs have the box with the leopard wallpaper.

What are the rest of the specs of the system they have on offer? Chances are they either accidentally rounded the CPU clock speed up (from 2.16 to 2.2), or they made a typo on the GPU.

They have both some are 2.2 and some are 2.16. But all of them say x1600.

Ask the seller/manager/whatever of the book store.

    2.16 GHz = ATi X1600
    2.20 GHz = NVIDIA 8600 GT

If the computer is in the retail box the full system specifications are listed on a sticker that <noparse>Apple</noparse> put there. If not, ask to boot the computer and check the specifications with System Profiler.app (/Applications/Utilities/).
