    MBP 2.4 i5, strange noise!!!

    Hi Guys,
    I just received a new MBP 2.4 i5. When I am using the computer, every once in a while(every 20-30 seconds) I hear a "pinging" noise. Is this normal?

    do you still hear it when you mute the volume?

    if not, it's probably a standard OS sound of some sort.

    Yes, I still hear it when I mute the volume. I am pretty sure it's mechanical. It sounds almost like a "bell."

    mine also made similar sound until i reattached the bottom cover
