    Hey Guys,

I've just opened a package with my new and shiny MBP 15 i7, and upgrade from mbp13 2.26ghz. I was (and still am ) really thrilled as the screen is gorgeous and the it's a powerful machine, however performance is disappointing.

Maybe my expectation were to high, and I was expecting every program to start in a second, or maybe it's still "settling in", but it's not as fast and snappy as I'd love it to be.

I was running MBP on win7 recently so that's where I began with my comparison. Games run much better, however simple stuff like opening word/excel and powerpoint at the same time takes good moment before they start. There is a visible lag in operations..

The same on Os X side. Sometimes scrolling thru a website gets choppy, apps start after bouncing for some time etc.

My questions to you my friends are:

    1) Are my expectations really to high? I spent $2000 on a really powerful machine and maybe I'm expecting it to perform miracles. Maybe I can't remember how slow my mbp13 was..

    2) Is there anything that new set of drivers/system changes can do to help?

    3) How would SSD help to alleviate my situation?

    4) What are your experiences with MBP 15 i7 on both Win7/OSx sides? I read a great review about gaming here on the forum, but I'm curious to here more opinions.

    Thanks,

    Arv

Did you have an SSD in your 13" MBP? The issues that you are talking about seem like HDD issues, so yes, an SSD would alleviate the problems you are talking about.

If you didn't have an SSD, did you have a 7200RPM drive?

nope, I was running on a 320gb 7200RPM . Now it's 5400 500gb, do you think it makes so much of a difference?

It has to have some effect. It's probably what you are noticing, as nothing else has changed for the worse.
