Has anyone experienced slow Wi-Fi connection when MBP 13 is in clamshell mode. But if you open it up the WiFi speed is just fine.

    Any ideas? Resolutions?

So you've got your Macbook connected to an external monitor etc.?

The antenna runs up beside the screen, hence closing it will cause worse reception. I suppose you buy some kind of holder that will mount the MBP vertically, maybe this would help?

^^^ That is incorrect, the antenna is located in the black plastic hinge at the bottom of the screen. If the antenna was up around the screen like in most notebooks, the aluminum shell would shield it from one whole direction.

Best I'd suggest is that if you run it closed, have the hinged side of the case pointing towards your wifi AP as best you can.

thanks guys for the input, yes i have an external monitor hooked ( but that does not cause any problems) ...i was gonna buy a vertical stand, but i think before i buy one i will try running it clamshell with the "exhaust" part up to see if it catches any good reception....pretty annoying that Apple would design it like this oh well.... :)

Duct-tape a coathanger to the vent area :p

You could try moving it around to see if it gets a better signal. While all of my Macbook Pros have always had terrible reception some positions work better than others in a marginal (for the MBP/A's only of course) area.
