I'm trying to get a decent quality video showing on my LCD TV using an HDMI cable connection from the MBP to the TV. I tried experimenting with Mac OSX's different resolutions but none really produced a good picture on it. Could it be driver issues?

Also, I even tried it with Vista (running via Boot Camp) and for this I can't even get the picture to show up on it. Any ideas in this department?

You ran the output at the native res of the LCD? Does it support 60 or 120 hz refresh rates?
You may also have to play with the pic settings... a lot. And play with different modes. Most LCD/Plasmas have a Movie mode that helps accept input that has a higher refresh rate than televised broadcasts.
Also, it could be your model tv. Not all tvs have good HDMI inputs. Check out avsforums.com and look up your tv there. May find some good suggestions on different settings to try, as well as HDMI compatibility issues it may have.

the supported res could be the problem, thats what it was for me, i have 720p projector and havent even been able to work out a fix for it yet.
although with a windows machine or bootcamp you can use powerstrip which allows for a lot of customizing.

if anyone knows how to get this work nicely please lets us know.

the first thing to do is check the native res on your tv and set the mbp to that res. You may also want to turn off overscanning in the mbp. One other thing to consider is that the resolution on that tv is lower than the smaller screened mbp so it will never look as good as a computer monitor.
