With the released of the new redesign MBA, apple is selling the refurbished MBA rev c, with 2.13 ghz and 128 GB SSD for 1099 USD or 1149 CAD.

Do you think it's worth buying over the newer MBA? I kinda like the old curve design better. But the battery life, hinge issue, vertical lines worries me.

    Any input is appreciated!

Personally, I like the older one better...

The older one had a backlit keyboard... and that is a must. Infact, I was about to purchase a new MBA until I found that out, it would replace my already sold iPad. I'm holding off on getting one all together now.

New one has a higher res, which is nice, but I already wear glasses and these hi-res stuff is starting to pour over with me. 1280x800 on my old MBP 13 was the bomb.com

The only significant revision I see with the MBA is the all glass track pad. I would really like a matte version in the future though. I travel a lot and glare on trains, buses and airplanes make glossy screens unusable.

I hope you find something I wrote helpful for your final decision.

    Not for $1099.
A new 13 is $1299, and you get everything the old one has, plus all the "enhancements" that the old one has. IDK if the price difference is the same in Canada, but yeah, not a good buy considering how much you are losing in the process.

Actually this is the main reason why I dont want to go with the new MBA :)

The 13 inch goes for 1349, so $200 extra. I wish they had backlit keyboard on the new one, it makes the decision making so much easier!

    Much faster graphics.
    Higher resolution screen
    Lighter
You can actually get 4GB of RAM.

    That's pretty significant to me...

User replaceable drive, faster CPU. I see THOSE as significant reasons to get the OLD one, not the new one.

Aside from the 1440x900 resolution I see the new air as a step backwards. "Pretty" is not a viable selling point to me, also Lighter? really? are you a 2yr old girl that can't pick things up properly? I can't see how anyone can complain about ANYTHING under 7lbs. My 53yr old mother carries a 8lb laptop around all the time and never complains.

The more I read Apple forums the more I think they are full of physically weak people that only care if its pretty, and have no care about functionality. This is even more obvious in the Air sections of sites.

Well using a 1.8" drive, you are pretty limited in hard drive options, and I'm sure that there will be replaceable SSDs in one shape or another. And if you are shopping for ultraportables a better GPU will get you further than a better CPU (and you are in the wrong segment if you want CPU horsepower . I'd know considering that my main computer is rocking a 1.3GHz processor at stock clock speed.

As for weight? It's personal preferences. As for me, I couldn't care less provided the laptop weighs below 5 lbs and has decent battery life.

I took the plunge and I'm very happy with my purchase. Though I agree that not having a backlit keyboard is a bit of a hassle sometimes but I can still see the keyboard to type in the dark since the screen is plenty bright. But with most things in life it's all a matter of preference. I just wanted something that I could put on my lap and wouldn't crush it lol.

faster graphics I could care less about on this... I would be fine with Intel graphics only.

Higher res is a negative on a 13" for me.

The old 13.3" weighed in at 3lbs and thickest at .76"... not that big of difference. (New one 2.9lbs at .68")

4GB of RAM is good, but I forgot about that... mostly because you have to configure this option at the online store

Forgot to mention, unibody construction... major plus.

Cut out the trolling, it's getting old. Some people want a 'grab and go' notebook, dude, and an 8 pound notebook, while easily carried, is decidedly not 'grab and go.'

No but a cheaper 13in notebook with longer battery, faster CPU and more memory and an optical drive is.

Unless you have a major issue with weight I see no advantages to the 13in Air over the 13in MBP except the 1440x900 which Apple is likely to put on the Pro.

The existence of the 11in Air I understand. but I cant find any way to justify the existence of the 13in Air.
