i am considering buying a used

    Apple MacBook Air 13" 2.13 Ultimate , 256GB SSD,4GB RAM .. Late 2010 Model.

Q1) .. what is the difference bw ultimate model and others.

2).. Can i play my flash Vedios smoothly ?
    3) HEAT issue and Fan Noise: i did not like mac after i wasted around 2000 $ on Power Book G4 and Fan Noise Was a great Drawback..

So will i have similar turbo engine fan nose in MBA with just internet browsing and playin .flv files.

    Please Advice.

There is no "ultimate" model, that is what the seller is calling it apparently. They are super quiet so don't worry about that.

It's not worth more than $800 so hopefull it's there or less.

4gb of ram and a 256gb SSD? $300? sounds like a total scam, or a stolen machine. You cannot even buy a 256gb SSD brand new for that. If its for some reason someone just totally ignorant and selling it much lower than they could actually charge... I'd make sure there is nothing that looks like is wrong with it... see if there is any warranty left as well.

I am calling scam on this one. First off, there is no such thing as an ultimate MBA so that right there shows that they are trying to draw attention to their auction/whatever by using terminology that doesn't work. Second, the price is way too low. $300 is what you spend on a netbook or really cheap notebook, that isn't what a less than year old MBA goes for. That is something that can easily go for $1100-$1200 and yet they are charging 4 time less than that? I don't buy it one bit. The person is running a scam or they are selling stolen/KIRF goods and do not deserve your business.

This wouldn't happen to be from some Craigslist postings would it? I'm so tired of this same guy spamming my local listings with these scams - new Macbook Pros and Airs for ~$300.

Do you honestly think you can buy this MBA for $300?!

Anything under $600 is automatically a scam (11" air). Anything under $750 is automatically a scam (13" air).

You can get the previous gen base 13" model for about 850-900. You can get the "maxed out" previous gen 13" model for about 1000-1050. It would have 4 GB of memory, a 2.13ghz core 2 duo, and a 256 GB SSD. The large SSD is the major cost factor when looking at the 100-200 dollar difference between the previous models.

The new 13" models start at 1300, and are much faster in general. The 1300$ version only has a 128GB SSD.

Any of these options will handle flash video.

I suppose they refer to a model that has all the maximum available features. Of course there is no model designated as "ultimate". Calling it ultimate is a shorthand way of saying it has the maximum available RAM, SSD, Processor that can be had with that model.
