I haven't seen anyone else talk about it yet and so not sure if anyone's really noticed.

The original MB Air came with a PATA HD or SSD. The new MB Air comes with a SATA HD or SSD which unfortunately means that anyone looking forward to potentially upgrading the HD in their original Air is SOL.

I'm not going to suddenly hate Steve Jobs or loathe Apple over this, but it's a definite annoyance.

Hmm...I'm definitely going to be interested in how Apple is planning to move the MBA. The problem is, the MacBook now does nearly all the MBA does, except being a bit heavier and thicker; its quality is equivalent now.

I think Apple may potentially move the MBA towards more ultraportable as well as netbook. Not necessarily the 8 or 9-inch notebooks, but possibly 12.1-inch. The MacBook now covers the 13.3-inch category quite well.

While not readily available yet, there are several manufacturers of 1.8" PATA 5mm ZIF 120gb drives and 128gb SSDs that should start shipping in quantity by next year. Its not all that hard to change the drive yourself or you can have someone like the Geek Squad do it for $35 to avoid potential warranty issues.

So while selection will be limited and pricing will be higher as a result there will be a MBA HD upgrade path, if not quite up to Gen2 MBA's

    Hope this helps
