I am about to pull the trigger on the laptop but have a few last minute questions, I am new to Mac.

    1) I have NAS (network storage) attached to my router, will i be able to access? (the drive was formatted under windows)
    2) I am android user, that is not changing, how is integration with google drive drive etc? can i plug in my phone and copy files to it music, word, excel files?
    3) I will be using MS Office, any issues there? how is integration with One drive?
    4) I also don't plan on using iTunes, i am assuming there are 3rd party apps i can use? any issues hiding apps i don't use?

    Thanks!

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay! To answer your questions

    1) yes you will connect to your NAS drives by using Finder and at the top menu (Go --> Connect to Server) and the type with " cifs://"NAS ip address goes here" or " smb://"NAS ip address goes here ". it'll then prompt you for username and password. If smb:// does't work try using cifs:// to connect. OS X 10.9 changed how to connect to NAS on windows drives.

(Side note IF you use a portable HDD plugged into a USB port that is formatted to NTFS you only be able to READ from it and NOT write to it. There's software that can enable NTFS writing to those drives.)

    2) I use Google Chrome and Google Drive works really well! There is an app called Android File Transfer that you can sync your android with if your android doesn't support Mass Storage option. I would avoid using the samsung kids software if you use a samsung. it will prevent you from syncing with Android File Transfer.

    3) office works just like it would on PC but looks a little different then the newest office 365. There is a beta office out for the mac OS X that looks similar to the office 365 for PC. Im not sure on the release date. There is also a One Drive app that you can download and install. It works just like DropBox. It sets up a folder where you put stuff in and it ill upload it to One Drive.

    4) Yep there are tons of them you can use VLC they support FLAC audio codec. Winamp is one, outdated on mac. VLC would be my choice.
