Bought VX revolution for OSX and can't customize it to autoscroll? Is that something too much to ask for?

Autoscroll? Do you mean mouse-wheel scrolling? I have the exact same mouse, I don't notice a difference between a wireless Mighty Mouse when it comes to functionality.

Get the Logitech Drivers for OS X.

No, not regular scroll. Autoscroll where you press the middle button and you can speed scroll by moving the mouse up and down. The autoscroll works great without the program but you can't use the back and forward buttons. OSX sucks if it doesn't support this.

Don't blame OS X or Apple for something Logitech failed to support on their own hardware.

OSX should recognize the mouse like windows does. I guess I gotta tell my friend he can't use his autscroll.

I didn't say that AutoScroll doesn't work. I don't have a VX Revolution on me at the moment so I won't know(and I never use Autoscroll), so you need to tell your friend to download the Logitech driver for OS X to try it.

People have complained about Logitech's work on its Control Center for OS X for a while. I myself have never had any issues with it. If you're unable to get the feature you want to work with LCC, you might try Steermouse, or USB Overdrive. Both are shareware. *Note - I have no idea whether they would offer the feature you're looking for. They are simply alternative drivers which replace the manufacturer's if those are found lacking, but some people like them much better than the ones provided by Logitech.

Pressing the scroll wheel switches from click scroll to free scroll
I dont think it acts as a button at all

I'm using a VX Revolution and am able to autoscroll when pushing down on the scroll wheel. I didn't have to adjust any settings -- just installed Logitech Control Center. This worked on my old MBP as well as my current UMBP.

I think some people in the thread may be getting confused between MX and VX.

There's also a 'Cruise' control that you can customise in the LCC - but it's not quite like Autoscroll. You'll need to allocate up and down buttons.

You can also try the VX with Steermouse.

Good advice. If the Apple Fanboys could just follow that school of thought and stop blaming moron users on Microsoft, that would be nice too.

yes, it works right out of the box but you can't use backward and forward button. Actually, you can't really use any buttons beside right, left and autscroll.

Tried everything but it doesn't work. Maybe a microsoft mouse will work?

Bear in mind that app-specific settings override the Global setting in LCC. Check that you haven't got something else set specific to whatever app you're trying to autoscroll in. If unsure, just delete every other app setting except for Global (when it'll be greyed out).

I take it you haven't tried Steermouse? Worth a try too, but I find LCC perfectly OK.

Wow, I just realized that you can't auto scroll with the vx. I've had mine forever and when I made the switch to a MacBook I just thought it was cool that the click was for expose. Hahaha, now I want to figure this out.

I do believe Steermouse gives you back that capability - something I don't really use. And as I said, failing that you can program either the thumb or zoom buttons with the Cruise Up/Down.
