I've poured over a few of my usual haunts, but can't seem to find many macbook air models between "new" and "yeah this huge crack, it's not a big deal, seriously."

Anyone have some tips for where one might find a reasonable healthy used MBA and/or what the fair market value ought to be? I would be quite appreciative.

Craigslist is always a good place to check especially since you can search locally. I have no idea what the price should be, what year, model, and configuration are you looking at buying?

I'm not familiar with the models, other than by their size (I believe they go by year?), but I was looking for an 11'' MBA.

People usually go by year, but Apple does assign unique model numbers to their laptops. for example, a 2011 MBA 11" has the model number MC968LL/A

You said you wanted an 11" Air and were provided a link to one. Other than the official Apple refurb, which carries the same warranty as a new machine, you'll simply have to scour the usual places (FleBay, Craigslist). Actually, Apple runs a sort of official refurb store on FleBay and the prices can be lower than what you might find from the company directly.

But if you are expecting to find reasonably new and good condition Macs for cheap (eg an MBA 11 of recent vintage for say $500-600) then your search will be in vain.

A price was also never specified as to what the OP was looking for. A vague question without any details was asked. I still don't know what year MBA they are looking for... 2010, 2011, or 2012? How much RAM did they want, just the stock level? What about the built-in SSD, the basic 64GB capacity? Lastly, it's important to know just how much you want to spend. As previously stated, you just aren't going to find an 11" MBA in good shape for $500-$600. You might come across a 2010 model but those ran the older Core 2 Duo chips and their keyboards didn't have a backlight. Unless you're fine with paying $650 for dated technology, you aren't going to be able to get a MBA unless you increase your budget to $750-$800.

We don't know where you live but you would be better off searching Craigslist for yourself. Just type in "11" MBA XXXX" (replace XXXX for whatever year you are looking for). Read through the posts and I'm sure you will be able to find something, whether or not it is in your price range remains to be seen.

I derived all the information necessary to avail myself of further third-party information and render an extended inquiry superfluous.
