With Lion, I read that it is allowed to be installed on a virtual machine as well as a physical machine. I wanted to take a VMWare virtual machine running Lion and put it on my Windows desktop, but was wondering the following:

    1. Will this violate the EULA? I won't do it if it violates it in any way.
    2. Has anyone tried this yet? Any problems with doing this?

    Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Never mind. It's not allowed to use a Windows host. After Googling for the past few days, this post that I just found shed light on the subject: http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/02/mac-...onal-os-x-instances-within-a-virtual-machine/

Yes, it can't be done as per the Lion EULA. Previously it said something about "Apple branded computers" and that lead some jokers to place Apple stickers on their PCs to get around it. Not sure if that would ever fly in a courtroom, but Apple seems to have changed the wording anyway.

The awesome thing about complete non-answers like this one is when you Google something like, say, "Lion VM with a Windows host" and more often than not end up reading a post like yours. Going round and round and round sure is fun.

Anyway, telling people how to break Apple's EULA is probably against the rules here, but alluding to it isn't much better.

I think they did that because it said "Apple Labeled" and not "Apple Branded"
