So my sister has one with receipt from 1998, and I was just wondering if it came with Wi-Fi?

Also, what's the latest OS that I can upgrade it to which won't be too choppy? It would be nice for word processing as there are no high-end pc games to distract me :p

Also, what can I upgrade in it?

Lime green didn't come out till '99. No WIFI. You can put a whopping 128mb of RAM (maybe 512) in it, and upto Mac OS 10.3.9

I'd go for the Macbook upgrade refurb from Apple for $849 (prices and availability vary).. it would be about a 10000X better machine.

not sure what else you'd want to do with a 12 year old machine.

if you were on the "PC" side that would be like upgrading an old Pentium II 400mhz, 128mb ram, nvidia TNT2 32mb graphics card, etc... you'd have to replace everything...

You might be able to use a USB wifi key/antenna. I just got done installing a Netgear WG111v3 on an old G4 iMac running 10.3.9. $15 brand new, shipped on eBay.

I don't know if a USB wifi card will work with USB 1.1, it would probably be to slow. You are not going to be able to do much with a decade old computer.

Only thing iMac G3s are good for nowadays are nostalgia and if you want to run some old old games with it that doesn't run in Mac OS X.

You could also install iTunes 2 and use it as a jukebox if you so desire.
