    I have a MBP 13" and a MBA 11"

    Currently:
On my MBP I have Adobe CS4 (legal and registered)
On my MBA I have nothing (no graphical suite)

Here's what I want to do:
I want to purchase Adobe CS5 (full version) and put it on my MBP
And take the CS4 from my MBP (uninstall) and put it (install from orig disc) on my MBA

    Question:
Does Adobe's licensing of the CS4 permit me to dump it from my MBP and reinstall it on my MBA?
If so, when I re-register, are there any hurdles? Do I have to submit a request, or anything?

You are still the owner of the original CS4 license from the MBP, so I don't believe that Adobe should have a conflict with this as you're just moving it to a new machine.

However, you have to de-authorize CS4 before you uninstall it, in order for the authentication and activation step to complete during reinstall on the MBA. Else, you're on the phone with Adobe support to ask for releasing the old license activation.

Their license allows 1 user per computer. So you should be able to do it but I'm pretty sure your going to need to talk to some one at Adobe to reactivate the v4. It will throw up a flag since it was registered to the other mac. Using the un-installer if available on CS may work. My guess is that you will need to manually remove some of the files hidden in the Library.

Deauthorize prior to removing it like ClearSkies suggested and you will be fine. I've done it at work on a couple of machines

    Thanks, guys.

I would have never thought about the "de-authorization" step.

    One more question...
I was a student at the time of the CS4 purchase, so it's a EDU version.
I am no longer a student, and therefore have to pay full price for the CS5.

Now, when I go to re-install my CS4, and re-register...am I compelled to attest to my current student status (none), and therefore then be ineligible to use the CS4 EDU version on a new install?

If so, if I sell the old version, do I have to limit purchasers to those who are currently students?

I think you only have to be a student when purchasing. It's ok if you're not any longer at a later date. But that's just my guess.

Just like what was said De-authorize and make sure it shows sucessful or closes the program on its on. Don't re-register and you won't have to worry about it.

read the license agreement... many cheap student versions of software actually list that you can only use it while in school, for school purposes.

Actually I heard that people who buy the adobe product as a student can still use it until you are ready to stop using the software....

I know a lot of people who use their software after they finish school and make an income on it with free lance work...

You should call adobe to make sure, but I am pretty sure you own the software until it is no longer of use to you...

Now selling it... I dont know what the deal is with that...
