I'm typing this on a new MBP. This is my first time with a Li-Poly battery. Should I treat it like a Lithium Ion battery?

Normally I would fully charge it and fully drain it twice.

Supposedly doing a full discharge when you first get it, and then every month or two keeps the battery in the best condition.

You don't need to do that with a Li-ion battery though for it's first usage. It's not like when batteries used to actually have a "memory". Just fully charging it should be fine. Li-poly I don't think would be any different.

Also, check out the battery university - specifically this page: http://batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm, where they actually recommend against fully discharging your lithium based battery.

Question, how much lighter is it than a normal Li-ion battery?

I know that. Still I have seen 'my method' increase battery capacity in front of my eyes.

Check my Acer 751 if you want to read details.

In the MBP they kept the weight the same, but battery life has improved.

Lithium Polymer is basically the exact same thing as a Lithium Ion for all practical purposes... its just a structural difference, to make it smaller and lighter.

Cool I'll treat it the same. Thanks.
