I just liked Tiger's search results more, where the files were categorized according to file types. Is there a way to switch back to that?

I don't have Leopard, but I don't think its changed from Tiger...it should be in System Preferences > Spotlight.

I don't think there is a way to do that, but I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Normal Spotlight (Command + Spacebar) is sorted the same in both Leopard and Tiger.
Tiger
Leopard
Super Spotlight (Command + Option + Spacebar) is a bit different looking. But you can just click the Kind column and use the + symbol to enhance your search.

yeah i was actually talking about super spotlight.... i just prefer the old way of having each file type section separated by a heading...

I haven't seen anything like that yet, but if you do find a way, please share!
