    Guys,

I really think this is a Leopard issue, as I've read stories about people upgrading their OS and having network problems.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why my new MBP won't access www.roadandtrack.com

It has happened with a few other random news sites, but the above is the one that never connects.

If I use a diff laptop (PC), I can get to the site fine while connected to the same wifi. If I use a Mac with Tiger, I can get to the site fine. If I use my MBP (Leopard) and use a proxy server, I can get to the site ok. Directly? Not a chance.

    What gives?

    That is weird.

No problems here though, I can log onto the site with Leopard.

And yes, I have reset the router and looked through its setup - couldn't find anything that might cause the problem.

    WTF!

I can't get to roadandtrack either! In neither Safari or Firefox (f3b4).

    Crazy...

Oh yeah, I've tried multiple browsers, too: Safari 3.1 and the latest Firefox beta.

    BUT...

Yes, on a diff wifi network, I can access the site, such as when I go to my parents' house.

If you can access it at your parents house, but not yours, on the same computer, then it is not the computer but you network at home. Either an issue with your router, modem or a problem with your ISP. Perhaps an issue with the DNS.

I would agree except that, on the SAME wifi network but different laptop (a PC), I CAN access the site. Odd?

    Amazing...

I researched on the web about a guy with the same issue, though he had an iMac. He claimed it was PeerGuardian, which I do have installed though it was not running when I had the issue.

I tried his suggestions for PG - had to load the program first - then tried to access the site; no luck. I quit PG.

Then I decided to exit the Google Notifiers I had loaded for GMail and GCal, and I was able to access the site. I reloaded the Notifiers and can still access roadandtrack.com (PG is not loaded up at this time).

Perhaps an issue with outbound connections? Interesting. Thanks, everyone.
