    Hi,

If you buy a Mac you get iLife for free. Now, if you do a brand new install of Leopard (formatting the disk, instead of an upgrade), can you still use iLife? Is it on the installation disks that come with the computer?

Also, regarding the disks that come with the computer. Will they restore the system to its original factory state (with iLife, iWork, Office, etc) or do they just contain Mac OS X 10.4? Or maybe both (you can install just Tiger, or Tiger+trials and iLife)

    That's a lot of questions. :)

When you purchase a new Mac, you also get 2 Reinstall DVDs. These DVDs include everything, including iLife on Disc 2. You can Customize OS X to include or exclude iLife as well as many other applications and extras (like printer drivers, languages, etc). If you do not customize the install, the process will restore the Mac to the original settings when you first bought it.

On the other hand, if you purchase Leopard separately, you will only get 1 DVD which does not include iLife. That doesn't matter though because you can install iLife from the Reinstall DVDs that originally came with your Mac.
