If you have a valid serial number that came with your Starcraft disc, go to the Blizzard site, create an account and download the Starcraft Anthology (includes Broodwars expansion free of charge) for either the Mac or PC. You can then run the program using the files obtained after the download (~700MB) - no longer will you require a disc to play! Make note serial key they provide when you register your Starcraft key, you will need to input it to install the game.

By the way, you can do this with (most) any Blizzard game.

Nope, it does. I've tried it and it works excellent, both for single player and multiplayer. Give it a try!

you may also run into issues with the graphics card/driver you have. I don't remember what graphics driver version they did it in, but they removed 256 color support. which kills starcraft.

it takes a little work, but you can get the Windows code running in Wine, or in Crossover... at least I think Crossover, I just use Wine since its free, but it is more complicated.

I used to run StarCraft in Leopard on my old MacBook. It ran just fine. The OSX installer worked just fine on 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5. Both on PPC and Intel Macs.
