I am currently trying to buy a macbook pro and im going to be doing photoshop and illustrator mostly and I was wondering if the .2ghz is gonna show any reasonable difference when using these programs and if there is any noticable difference shown in speed when using these programs with a 5400rpm hd or a 7200rpm hd?

Any help welcomed I think im placing the order in the next day or 2

Will you be using the Adobe CS3? Will you be using the Mac version? Need that info to fully answer your question. However, if you will be using Adobe CS3 for the Mac it will fly with even a 1.66Ghz Core duo processor.

200Mhz won't matter, and the newer larger 5400rpm drives are pretty fast since their platter density is fairly high.

At this point in the game, something like 200MHz on 2.2Ghz only matters in benchmarks and rendering, and even then, not that much.

    The 2.2GHz is fine.

agreed. rendering and benchmarks are the only places you will see improvement with the processor.

the faster hard drive should actually speed things up a bit, but i would go with the 5400 rpm drive anyway. it wont matter that much, but if you are working with like 100 meg files, it might matter to you.

ill be getting the mac version and the only reason to upgrade to the next lvl in the macbook pro series is to have gaming but i want to stay away from that on my laptop and focus on work instead
